Stage Sets wait theatrically for action to commence. They are resolute in their determination to keep you out. The crumpled surfaces are visually rich but the fractured reflections confuse and push the eye away. Further effort reveals an image of a chair or filing cabinet whose pristine construction is both echoed and contrasted by the wrinkled aluminum or copper sheetmetal of the work itself. 

Culled from mail-order catalogs, each photographic image is placed within a frame to imply the existence of a large interior space, an empty stage. Each beige or grey filing cabinet, perhaps filled with business or medical documents and personal records, stands resolute, contents unknown. As common repositories of private information filing cabinets are completely banal, yet the documents they hold also memorialize personal histories and dramas.
